PADR Series To Use Modified Bracket System For Eliminations

New system to promote a more complete and exciting race day experience for tracks, fans, race teams, and sponsors.

When the Pro Alcohol Drag Racing Series was formed it was evident that things had to change for Alcohol Racing to flourish again. When your business is struggling, you only have 2 options.

1. Raise Revenue
2. Decrease Costs

Pro Alcohol Drag Racing has made it a mission to do both – Increase revenue and lower costs.

That choice means a complete overhaul of how Alcohol Racing can better serve the teams, fans, and race tracks. The structure of how events are conducted has to be modified for Alcohol Racing to survive the tough times it is experiencing at the moment.

The PADR thought why not mix the “match-race” style of yesterday with the modern “tournament bracket” design of today?

The new modified bracket format will promote a new way of thinking about rounds of competition in drag racing. This is a tournament style that will allow racers that lose in the first round to continue to race their way back to a 5th place showing. This means more points, more money, and more exposure than loading up and going home after a first-round loss.

Let’s take a look at the highlights:

We are realistic about the new series and even with all the teams we know, we realize it will take some time to build up to larger car counts. So let’s take a look at an 8 car show for now.

  • 8 car field is set in a normal qualifying routine
  • For the first time in Drag Racing drivers and teams are awarded points and prize money based on the position they finish in the race ( 1 through 8)
  • Drivers & Teams that lose in the first round will still have a chance to continue to race and fight for points and purse money in the 5th – 8th spots.
  • Every team will have a chance to showcase their team and driver more than once on race day when the fans normally see only a few cars race later in the day.
  • Team sponsors will see their car on the track when people are in their seats on race day.
  • Series and Team partnership opportunities are vastly improved because of more racing opportunities on the track.
  • Tracks will see more enthusiastic fans because there will be more cars on the track throughout the day when they want to see cars race.
  • The finale at the end of the day could feature 4 final rounds with teams competing for race points and prize money awarded accordingly for each finishing position.
  • Driver and teams have the option to withdraw anytime if they are experiencing problems – setting their finish based on their last run.

From those quick highlights, we hope you see the opportunities this new format provides teams and tracks.

We will continue to discuss this format with those that have committed to racing with the PADR Series and those thinking about participating in one or more of the Pro Alcohol Drag Racing Series events.

There is still much work to be done and we will keep everyone posted as to our progress.

Everyone at Pro Alcohol Drag Racing thanks you for your support.
