Westerfield, Cox, and Gordon Still In The Running For NHRA TAFC Championship.
Sean Bellemeur stayed alive in the NHRA TAFC Championship by winning the NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.
The “Killer B’s team started slow in qualifying (qualifying #6) but gained momentum throughout eliminations with solid reaction times by Bellemeur and quick mid 5.40 second runs.
With the win, Bellemeur stayed alive in the tight Top Alcohol Funny Car Championship chase against Class leading Shane Westerfield, East Coast runner DJ Cox, and 2020 TAFC Champion Doug Gordon.
There are many scenarios for these 4 contending teams over the next 3 races. Here are a few of the easy ones.
All 4 teams will compete at the upcoming NHRA Nevada Nationals in Las Vegas. If Shane Westerfield wins the race he will be the champion. He controls his own destiny.
If Cox, Bellemeur, or Gordon win the event – they will still be alive to win the TAFC Championship along with Westerfield heading into the final Lucas Oil Regional race in Las Vegas and the Final NHRA National Event in Pomona.
If none of the 4 championship contending teams win the Las Vegas National Event then the championship scenario gets really complicated heading in to the Las Vegas Lucas Oil Regional Event and the NHRA season finale in Pomona.
This is a great Championship Chase by all these teams….enjoy it!
